Mentor background
Webster Tasat
Since 1994 I have worked both in local and state government agencies in California focused on mitigating the harmful effects of air pollution and climate change. During that time, I worked on a range of different programs, including air monitoring, emission inventory development, regulatory compliance, evaluating air pollution impacts in environmental justice communities and, most recently, air quality planning for attainment of federal and state air quality standards. For the last 20 years, I managed teams of 5 to 7 data analysts and engineers on a variety of air quality projects, all of which were designed to implement federal, state, and local air quality improvement efforts with the ultimate goal of protecting public health. Prior to my environmental career I taught public school in the Bay Area for several years.
My education includes a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Davis and a Master’s in Public Affairs from the University of Oregon.
